(Harrisburg, PA) -- A bill that would block student access to cell phones during class time is being drafted for introduction in the Senate. State Senator Ryan Aument says the measure will require public school students to use secure locking bags. The Republican from Lancaster County believes this would alleviate distractions, and allow students to focus on school work. Educators believe there could be potential for students to use phones on school grounds outside class time. A second measure would provide funds to conduct a pilot program and collect data on mental health surveys.
